Santafe Wanderers and Diaza: A Bold New Era for Kansas City Soccer

on Nov 04 2025

Kansas City, KS — For more than 25 years, Santafe Wanderers Fútbol Club has been proof of how soccer can anchor a community. Born in 1998 from the dreams of Mexican immigrant families in search of a better life, the Wanderers have always stood for more than just results. The club has been about belonging, opportunity, and the game’s power to connect generations.

Now, a new chapter begins. As the Wanderers prepare to step onto the USL League Two stage in 2025, they’re doing so in partnership with Diaza Football as their official kit provider. At its heart, this partnership is about shared values: purpose, community, and ambition.

Kits that Tell a Story

The 2025 kits are bold yet familiar: a clean red-and-black chest band, a design that mirrors the strength and pride of the community it represents.

“When we create for a club like Santafe Wanderers, we’re honoring decades of resilience and vision. These kits are more than fabric, they’re identity stitched into every detail.”
Diego Hurtado, Founder of Diaza

To celebrate, the club launched the jerseys with a cinematic reveal and a grassroots-style fashion show featuring players, staff, and longtime supporters. It wasn’t just a launch; it was a tribute to everyone who built this journey.

Leadership Rooted in Legacy

Much of the Wanderers’ progress is tied to Luis Cadena Jr., who became player-owner in 2016, carrying forward the vision of his father and the founding families. Under his guidance, the club has climbed from local leagues in Kansas City to the UPSL and now, USL League Two.

Earlier this year, the Wanderers added even more experience by naming John Sosa as Head Coach. A seasoned professional with both tactical expertise and playing experience, Sosa is tasked with guiding the Wanderers into their most competitive era yet.

From Grassroots to the National Stage

The Wanderers’ story is one of persistence and community:

  • Founded in 1998 by immigrant families with a vision of purpose through soccer

  • Competed in KCK Adult Soccer League and the UPSL Premier Division

  • Over 90 players attended the first USL League Two tryouts

  • Youth programs in progress to complete the pathway from grassroots to pro

Their next step: building a sustainable, community-first professional model that Kansas City can be proud of.

More Than a Sponsorship

For Diaza, this partnership isn’t just about kits. It’s about amplifying a story that proves what’s possible when football is built on culture, not just competition.

From grassroots roots to professional horizons, the Santafe Wanderers embody what Diaza calls the Diaza Mentality: resilience, pride, and belief in the power of community.

And now, together, both organizations step into the future: bold, united, and ready for what’s next.
