Diaza and Pelé Soccer Host Live Jersey Design Workshop in Times Square

le janv. 23 2026

New York City, NY January 19, 2026 — On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Diaza partnered with Pelé Soccer to host a live Jersey Design Workshop at Pelé Soccer’s flagship Times Square location. The event brought together creatives, soccer fans, and aspiring designers for an immersive, hands-on look into the modern soccer jersey design process.

Designed as an educational and community-focused experience, the workshop aimed to demystify how professional soccer jerseys are created at Diaza. Rather than focusing solely on aesthetics, the session explored the full journey behind a kit—from inspiration and storytelling to technical execution, pattern development, and brand alignment—offering attendees a transparent, real-world view of the sportswear industry.

Opening the Design Process

Guests began arriving ahead of the workshop and were welcomed into the Pelé Soccer store, where the first 50 attendees received winter accessories and Brooklyn FC gear as part of the entry experience. During this time, guests explored the space, connected with fellow attendees, and engaged with the creative atmosphere.

A dedicated design station was set up inside the store, allowing participants to pick up official jersey templates and begin sketching their own concepts before the presentation began. This hands-on element encouraged creative thinking and set the tone for a participatory, open workshop.

The event officially opened with a brand introduction video highlighting Diaza’s journey, values, and evolution as a global soccer apparel brand. The video established the foundation for the night by framing Diaza’s approach to sportswear as one rooted in culture, storytelling, and purpose-driven design.

Inside Diaza’s Design Philosophy

Following the introduction, Victor López, Head of Marketing at Diaza, led the main presentation. Drawing from real-world examples, he walked attendees through iconic jerseys created by Diaza, breaking down each project step by step—from cultural context and narrative inspiration to concept development, material choices, and final execution.

The presentation also addressed the realities of designing at scale as a B2B sportswear brand, highlighting how Diaza balances creativity, identity, and performance while working with professional clubs, legends of the game, and global partners.

Additional topics included insights into careers within sportswear and design, lessons learned from working across different markets, and the importance of aligning brand vision with technical excellence. The session concluded with a live Q&A, where attendees asked questions spanning design, branding, business strategy, and the day-to-day realities of working in the industry.

Community Engagement and Impact

One of the defining aspects of the workshop was the high level of engagement from attendees. Participants actively shared their design ideas, presented sketches, and contributed to a collaborative, conversational environment. The willingness of attendees to showcase their work highlighted the depth of creative talent within New York City’s soccer and design communities.

Overall feedback from the event was overwhelmingly positive. Attendees left informed, inspired, and energized, having gained access to a side of the sportswear business that is rarely shared publicly. For many, the combination of creative exploration and strategic insight was a key takeaway.

Diaza x Pelé Soccer Jersey Design Contest

Building on the momentum of the workshop, Diaza and Pelé Soccer officially announced the launch of the Diaza x Pelé Soccer Jersey Design Contest. Designers of all levels are invited to submit their own jersey concepts, with the winning design set to be produced as an official Diaza x Pelé Soccer jersey and sold in-store at Pelé Soccer’s NYC location.

Submission deadline: February 13 at 11:59 PM EST.

Closing

The Diaza x Pelé Soccer Jersey Design Workshop was made possible through the collaboration and support of the Pelé Soccer team, whose Times Square location served as the perfect setting for an event rooted in education, creativity, and community.

By opening up its design process and sharing industry knowledge, Diaza continues to reinforce its commitment to transparency, collaboration, and supporting the next generation of creatives. The workshop stands as a clear example of how sport, culture, and storytelling can come together to create meaningful experiences beyond the pitch.
